Waterfowl biologist launches digital MSU Extension Gamebird Program

Turkey. Duck. Goose. Quail. Dove. Woodcock.
These are just a few of Mississippi’s gamebirds, and the Mississippi State University Extension Service recently launched a new social media space to support gamebird recreation and management.
Overseen by Extension instructor and waterfowl biologist James Callicutt, the MSU Extension Gamebird Program now has a Facebook page and an Instagram account, with the handle @msuext_gamebird. The YouTube page also features the program’s podcast, Gamebird University. These resources provide science-based information on the conservation and management of waterfowl, upland gamebirds, webless migratory gamebirds, and their habitats.
Not only do these digital accounts share information about habitats, habits, and approaches to conservation and management, but they also inform followers about regular hunting opportunities. Watch for #WaterfowlWednesday fun facts, as well as opportunities to learn more at various Extension educational events.
