Add an Event
To add an event to the Extension calendar, you will need to be able to log in with your MSU NetID and NetPassword. You can log in on the events calendar page by clicking "Add an Event."
Alternatively, you can email the webteam with the information for the event. Events will not appear automatically on the calendar but must first be approved by the webteam.
Please be sure to include as much of the following information as you have.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Go to the Events page and click "Add an Event." Sign in with your MSU NetID and NetPassword.
- On the Create Event page, optionally select a topic under Filed Under (e.g., for a 4-H event select 4-H).
- Next, select an Event Type. If you don't see one that fits, select "Other."
- Enter a title for the event. If it's an event that happens many times throughout the year and at multiple county offices, such as Private Applicator Training or ServSafe Certification, please add the county name to the end of the title (e.g., ServSafe Certification - Oktibbeha County).
- If you have a poster or promotion image for the event, add it to the Featured Image field (optional).
- Optionally provide a brief one to two sentence Summary of the event, not including dates, times, or locations.
- For the Description, provide more in-depth information on the event, such as locations, dates, times, cost to attend, and so on. Don't repeat what's in the summary, instead just omit the summary if you don't have anything more to add and include the information here.
- Under Schedule, click "Add Event Session" button and select the date and time for the event. All events must have a date and time. If the event takes place across multiple days, you can click "Add another item" to add another date and time. You can also provide a Registration link by entering the URL/address in the URL box.
- If the event takes place across multiple days and has separate registration links for each session, click "Add Event Session" again to create an additional event session, select the date and time, and add the separate registration link. This prevents you from having to submit multiple duplicate events.
- For Location, select an option here if the event takes place at an MSU location, like a County Office.
- If this event is being hosted or belongs to a specific MSU department or county office, select it under Departments.
- Under Contacts, select one or more contacts people can reach out to for more information on the event.
- Lastly, if you have a designated person who can be contacted for accommodations, under Disability Accommodation Contact select them from the Internal Contact dropdown if they work at MSU Extension, or enter their information in External Contact if they aren't an MSU Extension employee.
Schedule Changes
If your event changes, you should be able to edit the event by going to its page while signed in and click Edit in the top-right of your screen.
- Make any changes you need, and click Save in the top-right. Your event will be set to Needs Review again and will be updated once approved.
- If you would like to place a notice that the event has been postponed or canceled, select the Schedule Change tab at the top, select which of the two options you want, and enter a message in the Schedule Change Notice box.
