MSU provides cattle expo for area producers
BATESVILLE, Miss. -- The North Mississippi Beef Expo in Batesville will provide cattle producers with an opportunity to learn from multiple industry professionals on Oct. 26.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. at the Batesville Civic Center and the speakers will conclude at approximately 2 p.m. Lunch will be provided. The Mississippi State University Extension Service, Mississippi Farm Bureau, Wade Incorporated, and Mississippi Land Bank are sponsors, along with other community donors.
This event will provide a trade show and cover topics such as disease diagnosis and prevention, weaning and conditioning, and how to prepare cattle for the feedlot stage.
MSU Extension agent Lance Newman is coordinating the expo and has multiple specialists scheduled to speak, including Gene Lowrey of Five Rivers XIT Feeders in Texas; Jason Banta, Texas A&M beef cattle specialist; Amelia Woolums, MSU College of Veterinary Medicine; Andy Berry, Mississippi Cattlemen’s Association; and a panel of cattle producers.
