STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Mississippi State University Extension Service agricultural economists will hold a series of workshops related to the Agricultural Act of 2014 in February.

“Farm Bill Summary, Analysis and Decision Aids” will address six topics related to the new farm bill. Workshops will cover the fine points of the legislation and how the state’s crop producers will be affected. Topics include agricultural risk coverage, price-loss coverage, supplemental coverage option, stacked-income protection plan, farm bill analysis and decision aids.

In addition to six workshops scheduled across the state, an interactive video session will be held Feb. 16 from 2-5 p.m. That session will be recorded and made available for future use.

“We’ve added some new analysis and information compared to the meetings held in 2014, so there is something new for everyone,” said John Michael Riley, Extension agricultural economist.

Registration is requested. If fewer than 15 participants are registered two days before a meeting date, that workshop will be canceled. Email MissStAgEcon@gmail.com to register for the following in-person workshops:

• Feb. 11 at the Noxubee County Civic Center in Macon at 16291 U.S. Highway 45;
• Feb. 12 at the Attala County Extension Office in Kosciusko at 715 Fairground Road;
• Feb. 18 at the Adams County Extension Office in Natchez at 75A Carthage Point Road;
• Feb. 20 at the George County Extension Office in Lucedale at 7128 Highway 198 East;
• Feb. 23 at the Alcorn County Extension Office in Corinth at 2200 Levee Road; or
• Feb. 24 at the Tunica Recreation Center in Tunica at 1165 Abbay Drive.
