Lucky Lantana
One of my favorite flowering landscape plants is lantana, and these Lucky lantanas are looking great! The Lucky series of lantanas have brightly colored flower clusters that cover compact mounds of dark-green foliage. The dark green foliage contrasts beautifully with the bright flower colors and will attract butterflies, bees, hummingbirds and other pollinators. The plants get 12-16 inches high and 12-14 inches wide which makes them a great choice for planting in containers or in the landscape. In most of Mississippi, these plants will act as annuals, because they are only cold hardy to 32 degrees. They love full sun, bloom all summer long, and there are quite a few colors available. Lucky Flame has blended tones of orange flower clusters that start in the center as a yellow orange and deepen in color to a fiery red orange. Lucky Pot of Gold does not disappoint either with its deep yellow flower clusters that sine like the sun. The Lucky series stands up well to heat, humidity and other stressful conditions. Lantanas are easy to grow, as they thrive on neglect. Keep them watered while they get established, and they will reward you with months of color all summer long. You can’t go wrong with Lucky lantana, so go out to your local nursery or garden center and pick you up some. I’m Eddie Smith, and I will see you next time on Southern Gardening.
