JACKSON, Miss. – Mynelle Gardens will be the host site for an Alliance of Sustainable Farms produce safety training Dec. 13.

The Alliance is offering the training for agricultural professionals, educators, farmer group leaders and fruit and vegetable growers. In addition to produce safety, participants will learn about the Food Safety Modernization Act and good agricultural practices.

Topics will also include training on worker health and hygiene, postharvest water and sanitation, soil amendments and food safety planning.

“Mynelle Gardens is an amazing display of azaleas, daylilies, camillias, and hundreds of perennials, annuals and naturalized bulbs,” said Alliance Manager Keith Benson. “The carefully landscaped setting changes with the seasons, but the mood is always tranquil despite the garden’s close location to busy downtown Jackson.”

There is no cost to attend the field day. Lunch is included, but preregistration is required. Onsite check-in begins at 10 a.m. The program begins at 10:30 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. To register for the field day, email AllianceofSustainableFarms@gmail.com.
