MSU hosts three advisory meetings
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- The 2018 annual agricultural producer advisory meetings kick off in February as Mississippi State University Extension Service personnel report on current projects and listen to producer needs.
Three producer advisory council meetings hosted across the state give the Extension Service and the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station input to focus their upcoming research and programming efforts.
The North Mississippi Producer Advisory Council meeting will be Feb. 15 in Verona. Producers in central Mississippi will meet Feb. 20 in Raymond, while those on the coast will meet Feb. 27 in Ellisville. Each meeting begins with registration at 8:30 and concludes at 3 p.m. Lunch is provided.
At producer advisory council meetings, producers, researchers, Extension personnel, commodity representatives and members of the public view demonstrations and hear presentations on ongoing or recently completed projects. Poster sessions allow the distribution of additional information.
Attendees can participate in special interest meetings. Groups this year include producers interested in agritourism, apiculture, aquaculture, beef, cotton, dairy, equine, ornamentals, peanuts, poultry, swine, turf, vegetables, grain crops, sweet potatoes, forestry and wildlife, goats and sheep, and fruits and nuts.
The Feb. 15 event in Verona will be in the Magnolia Building at the North Mississippi Research and Extension Center.
The Feb. 20 event in Raymond will meet at the McKenzie Arena located behind the MSU Central Mississippi Research and Extension Center. To register online for this event, go to https://register.extension.msstate.edu/central-mississippi-producer-advisory-council-meeting
The coastal event will be Feb. 27 at the Ronald E. Whitehead Advanced Technology Center in the Howard Technology Park in Ellisville.
