Field day covers soil improvement, herbs
SAUCIER, Miss. -- Producers and gardeners looking for tips on growing herbs and improving their soil can attend a July 20 field day.
The Alliance of Sustainable Farms will host "Improving Soil Health, Benefits of Herbs, and Beekeeping" at PJ Farm in Saucier. The event will focus on starting beehives, growing organic produce year-round, and growing herbs for culinary and medicinal purposes.
"Alliance field days are hosted by sustainable farming operations throughout the state, and PJ Farm is living the definition of sustainability," said Alliance Director Keith Benson. "They are certified organic, positioned for profitability and engage positively with the world around them."
There is no cost to attend the field day, including lunch, but preregistration is required. Onsite check-in begins at 10 a.m. The program begins at 10:30 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and shoes.
