Cover crop field day set for Jan. 19
ROLLING FORK, Miss. -- The Mississippi State University Extension Service invites producers, landowners and professionals in the Delta to a Cover Crop Field Day Jan. 19.
Carter Farms in Rolling Fork will host the free event beginning at 10:30 a.m. Local producers and MSU Extension specialists will discuss how they are choosing, planting and terminating cover crops.
Other topics will include crop production, soil health, water quality, and economic costs and savings. The field day will also cover a new collaborative effort between MSU, Delta F.A.R.M. and the University of Kentucky on cover crop research in the Mississippi Delta. The research project is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Cover crops are sown between growing seasons to protect and enrich soil health.
