Agritourism training offered March 10-11
VERONA, Miss. -- Mississippi entrepreneurs with agritourism or food enterprises are invited to take advantage of training Mississippi State University will offer March 10 and 11 in Verona.
The two-day workshop is “Growing Your Brand: Marketing Tools for Mississippi Agritourism and Local Foods.” To be held in conjunction with the Mississippi Agritourism Association annual meeting, the event will be conducted by the MSU Extension Service and other partners.
Registration is due by March 8, and the cost to attend is $50. The workshop will be at the MSU North Mississippi Research and Extension Center in Verona. It includes an agritourism and local foods bus tour.
Topics to be covered include branding, creating a virtual tour, strategic and technology marketing, cultivating an online presence, marketing plan development and agritourism’s place in the state’s agriculture. Speakers represent MSU, the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce and Arnett, Muldrow and Associates.

A follow-up workshop will be offered in Starkville in June where participants will work directly with marketing and advertising experts. Participants must have attended the March 10-11 workshop to participate in this follow-up workshop.
In addition to the MSU Extension Service, partners include the MSU Stennis Institute of Government, the Mississippi Agritourism Association, the city of Tupelo and Downtown Tupelo, Mississippi Farm Bureau and the Southern Risk Management Education Center.
