Blueberry field day and trade show set
MISSISSIPPI STATE – The state’s blueberry growers can gather in Covington County Oct. 10 for a farm tour, demonstrations and exhibits at the annual field day and trade show.
Beginning at 8 a.m., Blue River Farm will host producers, experts from the Mississippi State University Extension Service and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agriculture Research Service and exhibitors from across the United States.
“The 2013 Gulf South Blueberry Growers Association field day brings together growers, scientists and suppliers to share the latest information and products in the industry,” said Eric Stafne, MSU Extension Service fruit crops specialist. “It’s a great opportunity for growers to learn from each other and see what practices contribute to the success of Blue River Farm.”
The event costs $20 per person for pre-registered members of the Gulf South Blueberry Growers Association and $30 per person for pre-registered non-members. At the door, the registration cost is $30 per person for members and $40 per person for non-members. The pre-registration deadline is Oct. 1.
Lunch, drinks and refreshments will be provided. Blue River Farm is located at 1876 Highway 532 in Mount Olive.
