Extension offices will host Geneology Fair
MISSISSIPPI STATE – Many Mississippians love exploring their family’s past, and an upcoming statewide interactive video conference will bring experts on genealogical topics to county Extension offices.
Participants will be able to come and go throughout the three-hour Genealogy Fair that begins at noon on March 25. Three topics will be addressed during the conference.
At noon, author Betty Wiltshire will cover the topic of researching African-American and Native American ancestry. Wiltshire is the owner of Pioneer Press in Carrollton and will be presenting from Carroll County.
At 1 p.m., librarian Mona Vance will focus on how to archive cherished family memories. Vance is the archivist at the Columbus Public Library and will be presenting from Lowndes County.
At 2 p.m., Rick Dixon of Mississippi Marble and Granite will discuss preserving and restoring tombstones. Dixon has restored many old cemeteries. He will be presenting from Coahoma County.
