Quail workshop offers management advice
MISSISSIPPI STATE -- A free, half-day quail management workshop will teach participants ways to improve bobwhite quail habitat on rural property.
The March 29 workshop will take place from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Environmental Education Center at the Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge in south Oktibbeha County. Interested participants are encouraged to register by March 26. Lunch will be provided to those who preregister.
Topics to be covered include bobwhite quail population history and ecology, beneficial management practices and developing management plans for quail. Instructors will explain the Northern Bobwhite Conservation Initiative and the Quail Unlimited Seed and Incentives Program. Participants also will learn about quail management practices at the Noxubee refuge and tour the refuge to witness successful management practices.
