5 fun ways to cook catfish without deep frying
U.S. farm-raised catfish is the star of August, National Catfish Month. Contrary to popular belief, deep-frying is not the only way to cook it – just the most familiar.
But who wants to deal with the heat and mess when you can get a healthier meal with less effort? Not me!
Here are some tips and recipes for tasty catfish without the hassle and calories of frying!
- Grilled: Whether you buy fillets or bring home the catch, grill baskets are a smart investment that will keep your delicate dinner from flaking off into the coals. Try this recipe for citrus rosemary catfish!
- Broiled: No grill? Achieve a similar flavor by using the broiler function on your oven.
- Foil packs: Cook fish and veggies on the grill or in the oven in a foil pack to preserve moisture and make clean-up a cinch!
- Baked: You’ll love how tender catfish can be when cooked in the oven! You can even make your own fish sticks!
- Sautéed: Don’t want to heat the oven? Use a small amount of olive oil or broth to sauté catfish in a skillet on the stovetop. You’ll have dinner on the table in no time!
