Join Master Floral Designers, MFDs in Training, and Floral Enthusiasts spend a day learning and sharing about floral design! We will start off the morning with Extension Floral updates. There is a lot going on in Mississippi and beyond when it comes to floral design! Next, learn about cut ornamental foliage that you can grow in your yard, garden, and farm from horticulturist Dr. Tricia Knight. Next, Dr. Christine Coker will show us the ins and outs for growing great cut flowers successfully, what to do, and what to avoid. Enjoy a casual lunch and meet new floral friends. In the afternoon, gain ideas on techniques, new and tried & true! Our Inspiring Designer is Tracy Proctor, Tupelo, MS. A graduate of MSU’s Horticulture/Floral Management program, Tracy has designed flowers for weddings and events from New York to Colorado. His style reflects the contemporary south using cut ornamental foliage as the star of the show, supported by commercial flowers, a highly contrasting approach to floral design. Join us in Central Mississippi as we host these floral experts in an intriguing and educational day of learning. It is open to anyone interested in flower gardening, including gardeners, floral designers, flower farmers and professional florists. The day long program includes a boxed lunch.
