ROLLING FORK, Miss. -- A post-flood recovery meeting on Oct. 22 will help tie up some loose ends with information on agronomic and financial considerations for land that was flooded this year.

The South Delta Agriculture and Natural Resources Post-Flood Recovery meeting will convene at the National Guard Amory in Rolling Fork.

Curt Lacy, a Mississippi State University agricultural economist and Delta region Extension Service coordinator located at the Delta Research and Extension Center in Stoneville, is urging farmers, landowners and those who hunt the land to attend the meeting to learn what happens when land goes under water for an extended time.

“We’re bringing in experts to talk about what long-term flooding means to these different activities and try to dispel some mistaken concepts that some people may have,” he said. “The most important thing is we will talk about what people can do if their land was flooded and what they can watch for.”

Speakers for the event include MSU crop specialists, agricultural economists, and wildlife and fisheries experts.

There is no cost to attend, and lunch will be provided. Registration begins at 8 a.m., and the event concludes at 1 p.m. Contact the local MSU Extension Service office more information.
