Alliance training series continues June 21
CEDAR BLUFF, Miss. -- The Alliance of Sustainable Farms is holding its third in a series of field day trainings for beginning farmers and ranchers June 21.
High Hope Farm in Cedar Bluff will be the site of “Production, Financial Marketing, Food Safety and USDA Programs and Services.” The program begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m.
Topics include: pasture and soil preparation management; budgeting; marketing risk, food safety in value added processing; and farm policy.
There is no cost to attend the field day, and lunch is provided, but pre-registration is required. Onsite check-in begins at 8 a.m. To register for the field day, email Keith Benson at AllianceofSustainableFarms@gmail.com.
High Hope Farm is located at 731 Milam Road in Cedar Bluff. GPS users will note that the road sign will read, “Johnny Wray Road.” For help with directions, call farm owner Johnny Wray at 662-295-3986.
The Alliance of Sustainable Farms is partnering with Alcorn State University and its Mississippi Small Farm and Agribusiness Center for this training program.
Alliance field day partners and sponsors include the Mississippi State University Extension Service, Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station, Alcorn State University Extension Program, University of Mississippi Transactional Law Clinic, National Center for Appropriate Technology, Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce, and Mississippi Department of Education.
