Natural resources workshop set for May 16 in Raymond

By Ms. Melissa Denise Grimes
MSU Extension Service

RAYMOND, Miss. -- Landowners and hunting clubs eager to earn extra income while improving land management for wildlife are invited to attend a Natural Resource Enterprises Business Workshop.

The May 16 event will take place at Pecan Hill Farms in Raymond. Daryl Jones, a Mississippi State University Extension Service instructor, is director of the MSU Natural Resource Enterprises program.

“Landowners and farmers can seek new and innovative ways to earn extra money,” Jones said. “These workshops are designed for landowners interested in learning about developing enterprises from the natural resources on their property or simply learning more about wildlife and business management.”

Attendees will learn about marketing, ways to reduce liability, recreational enterprise potential, available cost-share programs, management for waterfowl and other natural resources, and nuisance wildlife, such as wild hogs.

Registration is $25 per person or $30 per couple, which includes lunch and reference materials. Advance registration is required at http://www.wildlifeworkshop.msstate.edu.

The Natural Resource Enterprises program at MSU is a research and outreach initiative of the MSU Extension Service, MSU Forest and Wildlife Research Center, Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
