High Hope Farm hosts Dec. 11 field day
CEDAR BLUFF, Miss. -- High Hope Farm in Cedar Bluff is set to host the year’s final field day organized by the Alliance for Sustainable Agricultural Production on Dec. 11.
Experts will present information on timely issues, including presentations from David Nagel Mississippi State University Extension Service horticulture specialist; Eric Stafne, Extension fruit specialist; William Kingery, an agronomist in the MSU Department of Plant and Soil Sciences; and Nancy Woodruff, a member of the Mississippi Food Policy Council.
Topics include crop selection, soil fertility management, winter fruit crop activities, seed acquisition for spring planting, and farmer and family health.
High Hope Farm operates a market garden and raises small herds of grass-fed beef and sheep with natural, sustainable practices. This field day is part of the agricultural alliance’s effort to help farmers learn about sustainable agriculture from people who practice it in Mississippi.
The program begins at 10:30 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. It is free, but preregistration is required.
High Hope Farm is located at 10705 Milam Road in Cedar Bluff, off of Highway 46, four miles northwest of Highway 50 in western Clay County. For detailed directions, contact farm owner Johnny Wray at 662-295-3986.

The Alliance for Sustainable Agricultural Production is located in Holmes County off of Highway 51, between Goodman and Durant.
