MSU will host ag producers in Verona Feb. 20
VERONA – Mississippi State University’s North Mississippi Research and Extension Center will host its annual Producer Advisory Council meeting Feb. 20 at the Magnolia Conference Center in Verona.
Agricultural clients will meet to discuss needs for education and research with representatives from MSU’s Extension Service and the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station.
Producers in northeast Mississippi and in Kemper, Panola, Montgomery, Grenada and Tate counties are invited to attend the meeting. After the general session, 16 groups will meet to identify priorities for aquaculture, beef, cotton, dairy, equine, forestry and wildlife, fruits and nuts, goats and sheep, grain crops, ornamentals, peanuts, sweet potatoes, swine, turf, and vegetable producers, and agritourism businesses. The agritourism group is new this year.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Magnolia Conference Center adjacent to the Lee County Agri-Center. The program starts at 9 a.m. and runs until about 2 p.m. Lunch will be provided. A poster session highlighting university research on a variety of grower interests begins at 8 a.m.
