CLARKSDALE -- Mississippi peanut growers can hear the latest research-based recommendations and get close looks at demonstration plots in Coahoma County during a Sept. 6 field day.

The Mississippi State University Extension Service will host the North Mississippi Peanut Field Day beginning at 9 a.m. on the Mattson Flowers Farm, located at the intersection of Highway 322 and Highway 49.

Alan Henn, Extension plant pathologist, and Jeff Gore, assistant research professor with the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station, will be on-site to talk about MSU’s peanut-related projects. Trey Bullock, peanut consultant, will cover maturity, frost damage, variety trials and challenges related to digging.

Attendees will view plant growth regulator use in demonstration plots. Malcolm Broome, executive director of the Mississippi Peanut Growers Association, also will be present.

The event will conclude with a lunch sponsored by BASF, Syngenta, Delta Plastics and the Clint Williams Co.
