Turfgrass field day planned for Sept. 12
MISSISSIPPI STATE – Turfgrass care, maintenance and research are topics of an upcoming field day and expo hosted by Mississippi State University.
The Bulldog Turf Field Day and Turf Equipment Expo will be held Sept. 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at MSU’s North Farm near the Veterans Memorial Rose Garden. MSU’s Department of Plant and Soil Sciences, the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station, and the MSU Extension Service are sponsoring the event.
The $20 cost to attend covers lunch and the day’s educational presentations and demonstrations.
The morning program will cover topics such as turfgrass nutrition, weed control, disease management, turfgrass insects and variety trials during a walking tour of MSU’s turfgrass management research plots. The afternoon will be dedicated to equipment demonstrations by vendors displaying equipment ranging from lawn and garden to golf and athletic field management.
MSU Extension specialists will have a help desk to answer turf questions and provide free soil pH testing.
“This will be the largest display of turf equipment in North Mississippi this year,” said event coordinator Wayne Philley. “This is a must-attend event for everyone interested in turfgrass management.”
