State government asks 4-H youth to serve
MISSISSIPPI STATE -- Four qualified 4-Hers will have a unique opportunity to see state government in action as they briefly work at the state capitol in March.
The Mississippi State University Extension Service 4-H program and the Center for Governmental Training and Technology are recruiting youth to serve in the Legislative Page Internship Program March 17-21. The youth will serve as pages in either the Mississippi Senate or House of Representatives for one week during the 2008 legislative session.
Applicants must be 4-H members between the ages of 14 and 17. The students must have at least a B average in high school and agree to abide by behavioral standards expected of 4-H members. Mailed applications must be postmarked no later than Feb. 6, and faxed applications must be received by 5 p.m. Feb. 6. Forms are available at county Extension offices.
This is the 15th year 4-H and the Center for Governmental Training and Technology have offered four page positions to qualified youth. Lodging is provided at a nearby hotel, along with basic insurance and a chaperone.
