Sizzling Summer Sun

Summer temperatures are already here, so it’s time for you to think about protecting yourself from the ultraviolet light of the sun. Here are some ideas for avoiding excessive exposure to ultraviolet light:

  • Using sunscreen lotions and creams with skin protection factors (SPF) of 30; applying for the highest level of protection; reapplying to your nose, feet, earlobes and bald spots and purchasing new sunscreen every year (sports formulas last longer and through heavy perspiration)
  • Staying out of the sun as much as possible between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
  • Wearing broad-brimmed hats and tightly woven clothing
  • Looking for sunglasses that block most UVA and UVB light

By following these suggestions, you may save yourself from skin cancer, cataracts, premature aging, burns, less immunity to illness and muscular degeneration (a leading cause of blindness in adults).
