Do tomatoes have to be pruned?
Research from Tennessee shows that removing the first sucker is only 85 percent as effective as removing three or four suckers. Removing the first sucker results in larger, heavier, earlier first fruits than not pruning at all. Neither peppers nor eggplant need to be pruned.
