Perry County Horse Club

DISTRICT 4-H HORSE SHOW REMINDERS

Each horse ENTERED must be accompanied by original registration papers (no copies) or ownership form for grade horses (both signed and dated by May 1, 2019).  Horses must be in the name of the 4-H’er, or in the name of an immediate family member (farm name is not eligible).  All horses must be accompanied by an official certificate showing a negative Coggins test in order to participate in the district and State shows.   The Coggins test will be checked and must be in possession of the exhibitor at the shows. COPIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED!!

All participants and at least one parent must be horse ethics certified. Also all new volunteers must be certified by the new volunteer process.  If you are working with children other than your own child, you must be a certified 4-H volunteer and complete the volunteer registration process.  Please let me know as soon as possible, so we can get you certified!

  • 1 MINUTE TO GET INTO ARENA
  • HELMET MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES AND MUST BE PROPERLY FASTENED WHEN MOUNTED ON A HORSE.
  • PONIES MEASURED AT DISTRICT ARE NOT MEASURED AT STATE UNLESS FOR OVER FENCES CLASS
  • SENIOR CLASSES WILL GO BEFORE JUNIOR CLASSES IN GOAT/CATTLE CLASSES

PLEASE DO NOT FORGET THESE FORMS….ORIGINAL COGGINS TEST AND ORIGINAL REGISTRATION AND GRADE HORSE FORMS!

Dairy Poster Contest

If interested in the Dairy Poster Contest, please call the Extension Office.  Posters are due in the office by May 25, 2019!

 

Farm Safety Day

Our Farm Safety Day is approaching on May 13, 2019!  If you would like to volunteer to help, please let me know!

 

South Cook-Out Contest

The South Cook-out Contest will be held on June 26, 2019 in Hattiesburg!  The contest includes the following categories:

  1. Beef Cook-out Contest
  2. Pork Cook-out Contest
  3. Poultry Barbecue Contest

Only two juniors and two seniors can compete in each category.  If you are interested, please contact the Perry County Extension Office to sign up!!

Training materials are available!!  Don’t hesitate to and call to sign up!!

 

4-H Summer Camp

There will be a summer camp in Wiggins at 7L Farms on July 16-18, 2019.  This camp is a three-day camp involving different activities including safety, fishing, animals, etc.  The cost of the camp is $80 for 4-H members ages 8-13.  For more information, please contact the extension office at 601-964-3668.

 

4-H Science Day

Would you like to learn about soil, erosion, and water?  Then come join us for a fun-filled day of science activities.  We will also go a bug hunt excursion.  This fun day will be held on June 11, 2019 from 10:00 a.m-12 p.m. at the Perry County Extension Office. This is for children ages 5-10!  Space is limited!  So, don’t delay!
