5 Tips to Celebrate National Nutrition Month
Video by Jonathan Parrish
It’s March, and that means it’s National Nutrition Month! One of my favorite times of the year.
This year’s theme is all about how food connects us. And when you think about it, food is much more than what’s on your plate. It connects us through memories, traditions, and, of course, our health! The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics offers many resources and support during National Nutrition Month and throughout the year to encourage healthier living through nutrition and wellness.
Celebrate National Nutrition Month with me with these tips:
Cook more! Get in the kitchen and try making something new. Experiment with your favorite foods by adding a new seasoning or a different cooking method to shake things up! Check out our MSU Extension publications featuring recipes for air fryers and electric pressure cookers. Our Fold and Go Meal recipes can be made quickly with leftovers or ingredients you have on hand. Be sure to try our Salt-Free Spice Blend recipes too.
Visit a local farm or explore your community resources to learn more about where your food comes from and to support local farmers.
Build habits that last a lifetime. Balance is the key to finding sustainable eating habits that work for YOU. Small, consistent changes lead to big results!
Connect with a registered dietitian. A dietitian can help you create a personalized plan for your nutritional needs because healthy eating isn’t one-size-fits-all!
