It's the holiday season, and what says Christmas more than a beautiful poinsettia? Of course, red is the traditional color, but there are some very pretty and unusual colors available. 

If you’re looking for a colorful annual that will thrive in our hot and dry Mississippi summer, then bright and cheery cosmos certainly deserve a serious look. The flowers of Sonata cosmos are delicate and daisy-like with the petals surrounding the yellow center disk.

Bark can be an overlooked feature of landscape plants when compared to the colorful annuals we plant each year. Let’s take a look at what I consider a landscape treasure. 

I love the fall season in Mississippi when the temperatures start cooling down and our summer color gets its second wind. Let’s take a look at some colorful plants that aren’t quite ready to give up this year.
