The MSU Extension Center for Economic Education and Financial Literacy (ECEEFL) empowers educators across all grades and subject areas to integrate economics, personal finance, and entrepreneurship into their classrooms.

Learning economics equips people to understand the real costs and benefits of choices — helping individuals, families, businesses, and communities use their resources wisely and prosper sustainably.

ECEEFL strengthens student learning by modeling best teaching practices, connecting educators to the latest research and instructional resources, and providing meaningful professional learning and networking opportunities.

Dr. Becky Smith, a veteran economic educator with more than 20 years of statewide and national leadership, is known for highly evaluated workshops in:

What the Center Offers

Master Teacher in Economics (MTE) is offered each spring for the MDE 193 Economics Endorsement
Professional learning workshops and CEUs in all economics topics, including microeconomics, macroeconomics, international, natural resource, agricultural, and state/local public finance and public choice
Financial literacy workshops and CEUs covering all personal finance topics, including cash flow, saving, investing, managing debt, credit building, consumer protection, insurance, housing and transportation purchases, etc.
Retirement planning workshops for educators
Technical support for teaching the confusing economic and financial concepts and selecting effective lessons
Evaluation and research on personal finance education initiatives and economic issues affecting Mississippi communities
Support for statewide Mississippi Council on Economic Education (MCEE) programs, including the Economics Challenge, Finance Challenge, The Stock Market Game, Financial Fitness for Life, and Learning Earning and Investing
