STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Mississippi State University will host four conservation camps in June to promote interest in careers and activities in the outdoors.

The camps are offered by the MSU Extension Service and the MSU Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Aquaculture.

Conservation Camp: Natural Sciences Edition will be June 5-8 and is open to rising ninth-graders through 2016 graduates. This camp features hands-on activities that replicate those of the professionals who conserve and manage the state’s wildlife, forests, fisheries and water. The four-day, three-night residential camp costs $325, which includes all food, in-camp travel and lodging on the MSU campus.

Conservation Camp: Wildlife Recreation Edition will be June 12-15 for rising sixth-graders through 12th-graders. This camp features hands-on learning about Mississippi’s wildlife and outdoor recreational opportunities, including fishing, archery and canoeing. Certification in hunter education is also offered at this camp. The four-day, three-night residential camp costs $325, which includes all food, in-camp travel and lodging on the MSU campus.

Conservation Camp: Day Camp Edition will be June 20-24 for rising sixth-graders through eighth-graders. This camp is MSU-based and is held between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. It focuses on hands-on learning about science, nature and the outdoors. Lunch and activity costs are included in the $75 nonrefundable registration fee.

Conservation Careers: Discovery Days Edition will be June 26-29 for girls in grades eight to 12. This camp offers an inside look into the lives of women with successful careers in wildlife conservation. The four-day, three-night camp costs $325, which includes all food, in-camp travel and lodging on the MSU campus.
