STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Professional turfgrass managers can learn about innovations in turfgrass and landscape management strategy during the 2016 Turfgrass Research Field Day Aug. 23.

The event will be held at the R.R. Foil Plant Science Research Center on the main campus of Mississippi State University in Starkville. Experts with the MSU Extension Service and Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station will present information on new bermudagrass cultivars, weed management strategies, ultradwarf disease management, native species for golf course roughs, PGRs and degree-day models, grow-in fertility and fraze mowing, and herbicide effects on grow-in and harvest strength.

The field day is intended for coaches, school superintendents, landscape architects, turf students, county Extension agents, lawn care professionals, and golf and sports turf managers. Extension in-service training and pesticide applicator recertification will be offered.

The workshop begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m. Preregistration costs $40 for professionals and is free to all Extension professionals and MSU turf and landscape students. Registration on the day of the event will cost $50 on site for professionals and $15 for Extension staff.
