Agricultural Pesticide Disposal Day set

In addition to taking up valuable space, waste pesticides can be expensive to dispose of through hazardous waste companies and are potential health and environmental hazards. In an effort to help Mississippi growers properly dispose of pesticides, the Mississippi State University Extension Service helps coordinate pesticide collection events throughout the state.

Prioritize safety when deer hunting

While it’s easy to get caught up in the anticipation and excitement of deer hunting, safety is an important aspect of the hunting experience that must not be overlooked. The archery portion of deer hunting season has been underway for a little over a month, but once the gun portion of the season begins there will be many more hunters and much more activity in the woods across the state.

Use summer plants that bloom into fall

One of the true joys of gardening in the South is filling our landscapes with a wide variety of plants that deliver bold color and personality.

From tropical treasures to tough-as-nails bloomers, our warm climate gives us plenty of options to create gardens that burst with life and excitement through summer and well into fall.

Careful garden design creates peaceful retreat

Sometimes the beauty of a garden draws people in for a visit, while other times the location is already a destination, and the surrounding garden creates the appropriate atmosphere.
