Rural Health
Agriculture Family-Friendly Training & Designation (AFTD)
Program Overview
Extension’s Agriculture Family-Friendly Training & Designation (AFTD) program aims to address health disparities among agricultural and rural families. Rural populations and farm families often have limited access to healthcare and face unique stressors, including weather, market fluctuations, and labor shortages. The Agriculture Family-Friendly Training & Designation (AFTD) program educates healthcare professionals about these challenges and how to address them.
Healthcare professionals will gain the skills and knowledge to provide culturally competent care to these populations through five self-paced online modules that cover:
- Understanding Implicit Bias in Healthcare
- Understanding Rural and Agricultural Health
- Unique Physical Health Risks in Rural Communities
- Unique Factors Affecting Mental Health
- Breaking the Ice and Building Rapport
