4-H Village - State Fair FAQs

When is the Mississippi State Fair usually held?

The fair dates are normally the first two weeks of October.

Are 4-H members admitted free on 4-H Day?

All 4-H members, leaders and agents are admitted free on 4-H Day between 8 a.m. and 12 noon.

What is the purpose of the 4-H Village?

The purpose of the 4-H Village is to allow 4-H members a place to display exhibits they have made through their 4-H project work. Each 4-H'er can submit items through their county extension program to be judged and those winning items are sent to the State Fair for display.

When are the exhibits judged and what are the premiums?

Exhibits are usually judged the day before the fair actually opens. Each exhibit receives a ribbon which are blue, red, and white. Premiums are paid for each ribbon color. Blue is the higher quality, red next and then white being the lower end of the quality scale.
