Walk Mississippi and Live Healthy … One Step at a Time
October 11– November 21, 2025
This individual or team-based health and wellness program encourages children and adults to increase physical activity and adopt healthier eating habits.
You’ll engage in daily physical activity by virtually “walking” across the state of Mississippi, approximately 180 miles east to west—about 8,000 steps per day—and learn key strategies to improve dietary and lifestyle behaviors.
Walking offers many lasting advantages—it's affordable, requires no equipment, and supports your health for life. You may also engage in other types of exercise, including running, biking, swimming, etc., as you increase your daily activity.
The program emphasizes fun, accountability, and sustainable change through education and friendly competition individually, with your family, at your worksite, or with other teams. Even if you don’t walk 8,000 steps each day, you’ll still be exercising more and eating healthier.
4-H’ers and other young people who participate in this program can count their activity hours for Walk Mississippi towards our nation’s highest youth honor, the Congressional Award.
Get involved in this no-cost program, address health-related concerns, and improve overall wellness one step at a time through Walk Mississippi and Live Healthy.
