4-H Forestry Project No. 4: Making a Tree Scale Stick

The first step in good forest management is measuring trees to establish a forest inventory. The most common tree measurements needed for inventory include DBH (diameter at breast height), merchantable height, and total height. Many tools are available to take these measurements, but one of the simplest and easiest to use is the tree scale stick.
