STARKVILLE, Miss. -- The Mississippi State University Turfgrass Research Field Day Sept. 18 presents a professional development opportunity for turfgrass and landscape managers.
Set to begin 8:30 a.m. at the MSU Starkville campus’ R.R. Foil Plant Science Research Center, the annual event is the premier in-person outreach showcase for the MSU Extension Turfgrass Program, drawing professionals from the golf, sports field, lawn care and sod production industries.
Featured speakers include faculty at MSU specializing in turfgrass, and presentation topics include targeted herbicide applications for weeds, turfgrass breeding for reduced inputs and pesticide applicator regulations.
MSU Extension hosts the field day in partnership with the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station and the MSU College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The event is designed for lawn care operators, golf course superintendents, sports field managers, coaches, school superintendents, turf and landscape students, and landscape architects.
The event also includes a vendor tradeshow with spray drone and technology demonstrations. Pesticide applicator Continuing Education Unit training will be offered on-site, adjacent to the turf facility. Lunch will also be served.
Turf professionals can pre-register for the field day online for $100 or register on site for $115. The fee is waived for MSU faculty, staff, students and Extension agents. Pre-register online at https://www.mafes.msstate.edu/workshops/turf/.
