Dear friends,
As cooler days finally begin to settle in, fall reminds us of the beauty of harvest and the importance of taking steps toward a healthier lifestyle.
MSU Extension is proud to sponsor programs like Walk Mississippi and Live Healthy, which empower individuals of all ages to embrace wellness in simple, sustainable ways—increasing activity, eating healthier, and living well.
This fall issue of Extension Matters will highlight the Walk Mississippi program, as well as other Extension programs that address health and community needs, including our newest Head Start classrooms in Hancock County and a new pocket park and improved community spaces in Rolling Fork.
Along with our feature on corn producer Adron Belk of Leflore County, we’ll also share what participants learned at Extension’s new Bucks and Ducks hunting workshop. We’ll visit Poplarville to meet a 4-H Junior Master Gardener who works in the local award-winning Pollinator Garden. Finally, we’ll feature two photo essays: one highlighting the Mississippi Assessors & Collectors Association Fall Conference and the other showing 2025 4-H Day at the Fair.
Together, Extension partners with our clients, their loved ones, and entire communities to inspire and build a better Mississippi—one person, one activity, one moment at a time.
