The Food Factor: Teriyaki Meatballs

Video by Jonathan Parrish
Easy Teriyaki Meatballs come together fast and make a delicious meal. Ground turkey reduces the fat in these moist and tender meatballs. The sweet and savory sauce will pair well with brown rice and roasted vegetables.

2 lbs. ground turkey
1/2 C. panko breadcrumbs
1 egg
2 green onions, thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 Tbsp. ginger, freshly grated
1 tsp. soy sauce
1/2 tsp. black pepper
Sauce
¼ C. water
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
1/4 C. soy sauce
2 Tbsp. brown sugar

1/4 tsp. garlic powder
3 Tbsp. honey

Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
Chopped green onions, for garnish (optional)
Directions

- Roll the mixture into 1 ¼ - to 1 ½ -inch meatballs. Place meatballs onto baking sheet sprayed with non-stick spray and bake until golden brown and cooked through, about 20—25 minutes.
- In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and ¼ cup water; set aside.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, add soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger, garlic powder, honey, and ⅓ cup water; bring to a simmer. Pour the whisked cornstarch and water into mixture and stir until thickened enough to coat the back of a spoon, about 2 minutes.
