Just because the colder temperatures have arrived doesn’t mean your curb appeal has to fade. Pansies are the perfect flower to keep your porches, patios, and entryways bright and lively!
Pansies are known to thrive in cool temperatures and respond well when planted in containers. You can combine them with a few other plants to create a stunning container arrangement using the thriller, filler, spiller style.
Before we dive in, you may be wondering, “What is thriller, filler, spiller?” This is a well-known method of arranging floral containers. The thriller is the main focal point, the filler helps fill most of the pot, and the spiller plant flows over the sides of the container. Remember this styling guide, and you’ll be set up for a great-looking container!
Here are two different pansy combos you can follow:
Herb Container Combo
- Thriller: Rosemary
- Filler: Pansy in the color of your choice
- Spiller: English Thyme
Purple and Silver Combo
- Thriller: Dusty miller
- Filler: Ornamental kale or cabbage
- Spiller: Pansy (trailing variety) in the color of your choice
Pick one or both to try out this winter. They’re sure to brighten up your outdoor spaces!
