Extension Does That?

“Extension does that?”  That’s the typical response when we tell people about all the services MSU Extension offers. We’ve been a trusted partner for families and communities in Mississippi since 1914, offering programs, resources, and expertise in a variety of areas. We’ve heard it said before that Extension is one of the best-kept secrets out there. We’d have to agree!

MSU Extension is leading the way by providing Mississippians with expert information on a variety of topics. If you have a question about something, we can help you or lead you in the right direction! Extension has agents and specialists ready to provide you with research-based answers to your questions. 

Here are only a few of the services, programs, and resources we offer:

• MSU Extension is a leader in youth development through 4-H. 4-H offers a wide range of activities and learning opportunities including science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM), agriculture, leadership, service, and more! 
• We provide education and trainings for city and county employees, such as tax collectors, tax assessors, and municipal clerks, to help them efficiently serve their communities. 
• Need soil recommendations for your farm or garden? We offer soil testing to tell you exactly which kind of fertilizer and how much your soil needs to grow healthy plants!
• Many of our Extension offices offer programs designed to help prevent and manage health conditions like diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and more.
• Making healthy, budget-friendly meals can be tricky. The Office of Nutrition Education offers programs, tips, and resources to help Mississippians live a happier, healthier life.
• Budgeting, finances, and savings! Oh my! Our finance programs are available to help you with personal money management. We also have programs designed specifically to help small businesses be successful and grow!
• Whether you are interested in growing fruits, vegetables, and flowers, or making healthy lifestyle choices, MSU Extension has research-based information you can trust. If you have a problem or question, give your local Extension agent a call!
