4-H: Something for Everyone

Video by Jonah Holland

“4-H has something for everyone.” If you’re like me, you’ve probably heard that phrase a time or two. As cliché as it sounds, it’s true. There’s a wide variety of activities and clubs that ensure that everyone has a place in 4-H.

Here’s the proof:

  • Interested in giving back to your community? These 4-H’ers helped put in a community garden in Monroe County.
A group of several African American children sitting on a dirt pile wearing orange volunteer vests.
  • Like coding, robotics, and science projects? 4-H understands the importance of introducing young people to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) activities in their clubs.
Three girls and one boy wearing black shirts looking anxious as they compete in a robotics competition.
  • Want to be a leader in your community and state? We’ve got you covered! 4-H is here to grow the leaders of tomorrow.

  • Interested in bugs, fishing, crafts, cooking, livestock, or photography? There’s a project for that! Don’t worry, those are only a few!
A young boy wearing a green shirt, black apron, and black chef’s hat that says “Raymond."

See? 4-H really does have something for everyone. One of my favorite things about 4-H is that it gives young people a sense of community and introduces them to peers who have the same

interests. I’ve watched strangers become best friends because they have a common bond, whether it be through leadership, archery, or livestock.

If you know of a child or a teenager who would enjoy being in the 4-H community, visit your local county Extension Office.

Guess what? If you don’t find what you’re looking for in your county, you can join 4-H where you find the best fit. 4-H wants you to be part of the family!

Head over to our website to learn more info on what 4-H can offer to your child and stay up to date with 4-H by liking our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages.

Fun fact: a 4-H alum filmed and edited the video in this blog post!
