Lunch break series aids the agritourism industry
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- The Mississippi State University Extension Service will start rolling out tips Monday to help agritourism farms adapt when they face market losses as COVID-19 changed the way schools are operating and how group events are being held this year.
Extension is offering two weeks of Agritourism and Local Foods Lunch Break programs beginning Aug. 17. These one-hour, online video workshops will be hosted each Monday through Friday through Aug. 28.
The goal of the workshops is to help agritourism venues reach new markets in efforts to generate new income streams. The workshops are free and available by registering at http://msuext.ms/lunchbreak.
Speakers will represent the MSU Extension Service, the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce, the National Ag Law Center and Southwest Florida Research and Extension Center. Funding for the series was provided in part by the Ag. Marketing Services’ Farmers Market Promotion Program.
