Species of the Month: Green Tree Frog

Who’s that green climber? The green tree frog, or Hyla cinerea, is a striking green frog with sticky pads on its toes. These pads allow it to be an excellent climber!
With bright green or gray skin and gold-white markings, these little guys are flashy. They are usually between 1 ½ inches to 2 ½ inches long.
Like most native southeastern amphibians, the green tree frog loves wet habitats and is often found near ponds, lakes, and marshes. They like areas with floating or rooted plants so they can nab insects to eat while hiding from predators. They also like to be able to climb away from threats.
