Are you always running out of time to get everything done? Or do you feel like you don’t have enough time for the things you really enjoy doing?
If this sounds like you, you’re not alone. But these tips from MSU Extension Publication 4007, “How to Make the Most of Your Time” can help you gain more control over all the things you need to do, which translates to less stress and more time for fun.
Plan ahead
Do small tasks ahead of time, such as laying out your clothes for the next day or packing lunches and backpacks after dinner. Think about the times of day you feel most rushed and take care of the tasks that you can do ahead of time.
Structure your day
Write down the times of day that you normally do tasks, such as chores, pay bills, play with your children, eat meals, work on schoolwork, and practice self-care. Try to group your tasks together based on the type of task (chores), what the task is for (work, school), or how long the task takes (do small simple tasks first).
Make a to-do list
Use an old-fashioned pen and paper or the notes feature on your phone to make a list of what you need to do daily or weekly. Focus on what needs to be done first.
