Annual MSU turfgrass field day set for Sept. 19
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Professionals involved in the turfgrass industry can register now for a September field day that will showcase Mississippi State University turfgrass research and Extension expertise.
The 2024 Turfgrass Research Field Day will be Sept. 19 from 8 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. at the R.R. Foil Plant Science Research Facility in Starkville. The event is hosted by the MSU Extension Service and the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station.
Morning sessions will cover warm-season turfgrass breeding, turfgrass weeds and best management practices. Lunch is provided on-site. Afternoon sessions will cover insect pests, turfgrass diseases, as well as a pesticide safety and regulations update. Pesticide applicator certification and continuing education units are available for those who need them.
Presenters are MSU researchers and Extension personnel. The field day will be held on MSU test plots, and participants will have the opportunity to examine turfgrass variety trials and other research.
The event is designed for lawn care professionals, golf course managers, sports field managers, coaches, landscape architects, as well as students and Extension agents. Homeowners are welcome to attend, but the specialized event is intended for industry professionals.
Register at . Online registration is $100 per person and closes on Sept. 16, 2024, but day-of registration is possible for $115. The research facility is located at 972 Highway 182 in Starkville, Mississippi.
