Learn to manage veggie pests in high tunnels
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Vegetable growers soon will have two chances to learn about managing pests on produce in greenhouses and high tunnels.
The one-day workshop Vegetable Pest Management in High Tunnels and Greenhouses will be held at two locations: the Mississippi State University Extension Service Forrest County office in Hattiesburg on Aug. 30, and the MSU Extension Lafayette County office in Oxford on Sept. 1.
Presentations will cover abiotic disorders; pesticide regulation and safety; and disease, pest and weed management. The focus of the workshop is produce commonly grown in enclosed structures -- cucurbits, lettuce and tomatoes. Each program runs from 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. and features presentations from researchers and Extension faculty from MSU and Louisiana State University.
The MSU Extension office in Forrest County is located at 952 Sullivan Drive in Hattiesburg. The office in Lafayette County is at 70 F.D. Buddy East Parkway in Oxford.
The workshop costs $25 to attend and includes lunch. Preregistration is required by Aug. 25. Register and pay online at http://musext.ms/hdnes.
