Landscape symposium planned at MSU Oct. 18
STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Landscape design and natural landscape enthusiasts will gather at Mississippi State University to perfect their craft and learn from other experts, an annual event happening this year on Oct. 18.
The 68th Edward C. Martin Landscape Symposium will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Bost Auditorium at MSU. It is sponsored by the MSU Extension Service, MSU Department of Landscape Architecture and Garden Clubs of Mississippi Inc.
This year’s lineup includes Carol Reese, an Extension horticulturist retired from the University of Tennessee, who will speak about Southern gardening; Richard Harkess, MSU professor of horticulture, presenting on color in the garden; and Charlie Landreth, president of 35 Degrees North Landscape Services in Brevard, North Carolina, who will speak on residential landscape design.
Registration for the half-day event is $25 in advance or $30 at the door.
These landscape symposiums bring noted regional and national landscape speakers to campus to share their expertise with MSU students, homeowners and landscape professionals. Started in 1957, it is named for Martin, who helped establish the MSU Department of Landscape Architecture and worked for 45 years at MSU.
