HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Blueberry growers and others interested in growing blueberries commercially can learn more about the crop during an upcoming workshop.

The 2020 Mississippi Blueberry Education Workshop will be held Jan. 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mississippi State University Extension Service office in Forrest County. The Gulf South Blueberry Growers Association is co-hosting the workshop.

New and experienced growers are welcome. Topics include industry updates, cultivar development, market planning and freeze protection methods. Attendees will enjoy a session on wine making by Renee Threlfall of the University of Arkansas followed by a tasting of Mississippi wine products. They also will hear from growers during a roundtable discussion. Sam Troy, who works with North Carolina’s wine industry, will be the guest speaker during lunch.
