Promoting Healthy Living Through Community Connections Teen Summit
The Promoting Healthy Living Through Community Connections Summit will provide health education designed to help teens improve their health and well-being by increasing knowledge, self-efficacy and ultimately influencing behavior change. Improving Mississippi communities by teens serving as active role models for change will influence generations to come. Participants will learn skills to help them advocate for their communities and better understand the importance of volunteering in their communities through community partnerships. The summit will involve experts per various tracts in nutrition, health promotion/physical fitness, mental health, and civic/community engagement. Each tract will be interactive and relevant to teen health and well-being. The summit will serve as a pipeline for teens to become certified as Junior Master Wellness Volunteers. There will also be adult workshops for adults attending the summit with students. The adult workshops will consist of interactive and fun information related to nutrition, health, and well-being of teens. Extension agents will have an opportunity to earn in-service credit for attending workshops.
